Stöckli CEO Marc Gläser at the SWISS ECONOMIC FORUM
CEOs and managers from various industries, as well as representatives from politics, sciences and the media met on the weekend in Interlaken at the Swiss Economic Forum (SEF). The 21st edition of this economic meeting emphasized optimism: “Yes! The Optimist Code” was the slogan. Marc Gläser, Stöckli CEO, was also on hand and shared his impressions with us.

Marc Gläser, how do you as the CEO of Stöckli handle changes?
As the CEO of a company, one must remain an optimist and see opportunities without ignoring all of the possible external risks. It is always focused on “calculated risk-taking” with the challenge being you never really have all the facts or can ever take into consideration all possible risks and scenarios. I personally always see the glass half-full and am very open when it comes to changes because these also usually offer many opportunities.
Why is then optimism so essential?
Optimism releases positive energy and also helps implement a project in the face of resistance and setbacks.
What is the takeaway for you in regards to this year’s SEF slogan?
That you can’t see your only industry’s limits too narrowly, and that you should increasingly seek and enter into partnerships.
What did you particularly like at the SEF?
The positive mood! I always meet up with many well-known public figures, and the exchange is normally very enriching and inspiring.
Why is the SEF itself vital?
A place for meeting, exchanging ideas. It is clear that people are social creatures and appreciate this personal style of networking.
