The new Montero AX promises total versatility. Groomed pistes? Fresh powder? Heavy spring slush? Everything is no problem for this playful do-it-all. Wave-shaped slits in the Titanal plus a rocker at the tip and tail make this ski easy handling and nimble, ideal for short to mid-radius turns. With its waist of 80 mm, it also gets stability and performs perfectly in all conditions.
The gradual bending up of the ski at its tip and tail is called the rocker. Stöckli modifies the rocker according to the type of ski. Typically, the longer and more pronounced the rocker, the more lift is generated and the more responsive and easy-turning the ski becomes.

ADAPTIVE CONTACT LENGTH
The widest point on the shovel is set further forward. Together with a slight rocker (more gradual up-bend of the shovel), the more the ski is tilted, the further forward the contact point of the edge with the snow moves. This preserves its nimble characteristics without sacrificing stability and grip during the turn.

An S-shaped notch in the aluminum at the shovel and tail of the ski offers softer flex and torsion at the front and rear. I’ve been on more skis than I can count and I can easily say this is the best of all. An incredibly stable and versatile ski with the smoothest ride imaginable. I take this out most days of the season and only change to a wider ski if the focus is mainly off piste and in very soft or deep snow. This handles all conditions - bumps, crud, firm snow, spring conditions, light powder and almost anything else. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Er hat sich super bewährt auf der schwarzen Piste aber auch mit seiner Drehfreudigkeit, wenn ich mit den Kindern auf der blauen und roten Piste unterwegs bin. Der AX ist ein super Allrounder. Im Neuschnee habe ich das Gefühl erlebt, dass ich erwartet habe. Überrascht hat mich der Ski auf der Piste. Man kann sehr gut carven, zumindest bei weichem, griffigem Schnee. Bei harten Pisten kommt der AX an seine Grenzen. Das ist aber klar bei einem Allmountain-Ski und geht in Ordnung.

J'utilise ces skis en 175 pour le télémark (1m80 ,75kg). Je possède aussi les stormrider 95 en 184 mais ces derniers ne sont pas aussi incisifs sur la piste que les AX. Quels bonheur pour le carving, l'accroche est top et le renvoi terrible. Ces skis donnent le smile ! Je ne les conseillerais pas forcémement à des débutants en Télémark, il faut de la cuisse pour les tenir ainsi que des chaussures bien rigides. Sinon que du plaisir !

I love my new Laser Ax 154's. I've been an SC fan for 9+ yrs/GS Yeah!/Storm Rider too! but hate the weight of the "new"plate binding! It bruises my arm and shoulder!!! How much does this binding weigh? And why do I need a RENTAL plate? Like to know how much the Laser Ax's + standard plate binding sold as your Stokli package weigh? I weigh 97 lbs.this binding weighs a ton!Love the ski! Hate the weight of the binding! THX

Incredible edge grip yet forgiving. I tried the SX and CX as well. These won. Agile turn radius but they love longer ones. Width makes them easy when the conditions worsen. Just be careful to have the binding fitted properly to your boots. The toe piece on the Salomon has a vertical adjustment to accommodate ski touring boots. In the end, I had mine fitted with Vist bindings and a race plate, which makes them grip even better.
