Weather was unconducive to ski crossers in Feldberg
Feldberg, Germany, marked the location this past weekend for the next World Cup races of the ski cross community. Although these were slighted marred by bad weather conditions and could not be fully carried out, valuable FIS points were still given away and the performance of Stöckli athletes brought them point rankings.
What a chaotic situation in Feldberg! The qualification races scheduled for Friday had to be postponed in the hope that better weather would set in on Saturday and Sunday – but it didn't happen. Heavy snowfall forced stoppage of Saturday's race. However, the event had progressed so far to allow evaluation of those races that had already taken place and to define the winner. Stöckli's athletes, Fanny Smith and Alex Fiva, both landed fabulous podium places – second and third, respectively. On the men's team commendable classifications were reached by Armin Niederer who came in 5th, Daniel Bohnacker who ranked 9th, and the Canadian, Chris del Bosco who placed 10th among the Top 10.
The weather did not improve much on Sunday, and again not in favor of the athletes. The event was started but once again had to be cancelled. This time only the men's race could be evaluated and Stöckli's Alex Fiva again landed a great podium spot (3rd). The other Stöckli athletes, namely Chris del Bosco, came in 4th, and Armin Niederer came in 5th among the Top 10.
Both podium spots achieved by Alex Fiva represent valuable FIS points that bring him closer to the current point leader, Jean Frederic Chapuis.
