PERFECT SEASON KICKOFF
The World Cup season could not have started better for Stöckli and Viktoria Rebensburg. Vicky nailed her 14th World Cup victory in Sölden on the Rettenbach Glacier.
With our dominator in Ski Cross, Marielle Thompson, and our Downhill master, Ilka Stuhec, both out with injuries, the start this winter for Stöckli wasn’t completely ideal. So we were eagerly looking forward to the season opener in Sölden.
Our Giant Slalom specialist Viktoria Rebensburg, however, started as one of our true aces. She finished up great summer training and began the new World Cup season with the start number of 1. Is that a sign?
After a good first run, which placed her in 3rd, she showed off a brilliant 2nd run. She made up her deficit of 33 hundredths of a second and thus decided the race. Sensational! And it says a lot for the coming season too.
Another Stöckli athlete, Slowenian Meta Hrovat (28), was also able to gain some points.
